As a bassist I have most often had a supporting role in the various musical ensembles that I’ve played with. For this project I wanted to play my own music and put together my own band.I wrote music for a jazz ensemble with two guitars, drums, bass and saxophone. I wanted to incorporate elements of rock and traditional folk styles in the music as well.

Throughout the paper I reflect on how the songs came into existence, how it felt to rehearse them with the band and ultimately how the final exam concert went.I reflect on the problems that arose and how I dealt with them. I make realizations about being a composer and a bandleader. I come closer to who I am as a musician and what it is that I want to do.
