Bli vän med sin egen musik: Från fritonal jazz till kommersiell pop (och vart på skalan däremellan hör jag hemma?)
Royal College of Music in Stockholm, Department of Jazz.
2018 (Swedish)Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor of Fine Arts), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis [Artistic work]
Abstract [en]

This bachelor thesis aims to give the reader an understanding of my musical journey during the years at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm, as well as in my life before that. I describe my struggling with what genre I want to identify with as a composer and vocalist because of my love for pop music, coming from a heavily jazz influenced background (and studying at a Jazz Institution).

I describe the work I put in the five songs that is the result of this project and I present the people that have been involved (such as co-writers, mixing engineers, producers and band members).

I talk about my love for improvisation and jazz and how I feel that I can incorporate that into my more and more commercial sounding pop songs.

The last parts of the thesis will include reflections on my lyrics as well as all the different ways of composing music I have come to use and love.
