Enhancing creativity through automatic mixing research: testing spectral clarity predictors in the mixprocess
University of Westminster. (ARP2017)

Abstract [en]

As established in a prior research study, spectral clarity is an important parameterof high-quality mixes. Two predictors for this are the harmonic centroid(a weighted centre mass of energy of a sound spectrum) and spectral inconsistenciesrelated to sharp peaks roughly in the middle of the frequencyspectrum (Hermes et al., 2017). The impact of these predictors on the creativeprocess is tested and starting points for further research are established in thispaper.
