This text delves into the different phases of creating an experimental auteur project that combines different art forms into one cohesive piece. The creative process of transferring an artistic vision from music to video and visual art is described in detail. This process resulted in a project consisting of four music videos and four songs which were presented during a month-long exhibition together with related images. The project and exhibition had minimal exposure on social media, as I was interested in exploring the power of word of mouth outside of the realm of the Internet.
I look into motivation as an important aspect for the completion of a project and how motivation can be affected through effective scheduling and mental preparation. I am also exploring how solidifying one’s artistic vision in the form of a manifesto can be used as a useful method for preparation as well as a tool throughout the process. In addition to this I was curious if the release of an artistic project can be successfull without utilising social media, instead concentrating on word of mouth. I found that preparing yourself mentally as well as creating a realistic schedule with micro-goals are both extremely beneficial in completing a long-term project. My process resulted in understanding the power of social media and its undeniable and now-permanent role in our lives.
My purpose with this project was to rediscover myself as an artist as well as explore other means of expression besides music. In the past years I have become increasingly attracted to working with not only music production but even film and art; this project is the result of that desire.
