In this project I have composed and arranged music for a concert, which was to be

played with a combination of instruments never before tried by me. I have explored

different approaches to composition and arranging with the goal of becoming more

comfortable than earlier in this process.

I am emphasizing a few different techniques for composing such as

improvisation, randomization and limitation and I describe how I have used these

when writing my new songs. Subsequently I explain how I have rearranged three

of my older songs and also describe the implementation of rehearsals as well as the

concert itself.

Towards the end of my thesis I share my insights and experiences of the writing

methods I have explored through the project. I point out what has worked out well

and what can be improved in my upcoming projects. I reflect upon the importance

of lyrics, meaningfulness and making use of what one already possesses. The

project has had its setbacks but above all it has provided me with new attitudes and

working methods which I will most likely benefit from in the future.
