Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

Physical exercise has long proved beneficial for many different abilities, including school performance. Research has been done to explore the relationship between physical exercise and theoretical subjects such as mathematics, however, research on the impact of physical exercise on music education and music performance is limited. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between physical activity and music education. Through in-depth interviews with three music teachers, all from different school forms, music teachers’ perceptions of the relationship between physical activity and musical performance and development were examined. The analysis of the interview material focused on the theme’s motivation, concentration, ergonomics and learning. Relatively consistent, the informants expressed that physical activity has a positive effect on students' development in music. However, variations also emerged regarding different types of physical activity and different stages of development.
