Abstract [sv]

Detta är en skriftlig reflektion inom konstnärligt examensarbete på kandidatnivå vid Kungl. Musikhögskolan i Stockholm. Syftet med studien var att med utgångspunkt i Leopold Mozarts Versuch einer gründlichen Violinschule och W.A. Mozarts Violinkonsert no. 4 undersöka violinteknisk och musikalisk praxis från 1700-talet samt hur den egna interpretationen kan förändras av kunskapen om denna praxis. För att undersöka detta har Leopold Mozarts violinskola studerats och innehållet jämförts med den egna nutida interpretationen av violinkonserten. Parallellt med studierna har även en musikalisk analys av stycket gjorts. I resultatdelen demonstreras violintekniska direktiv från violinskolan och jämförs med den egna interpretationen. Studiens resultat påvisar att den egna interpretationen inte förändrats dramatiskt, förutom specifika detaljer, men att studierna av L. Mozarts violinskola givit en extra dimension till den egna tolkningen av verket. 

Abstract [en]

This is a written reflection within artistically independent work at graduate level at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm. The purpose of the study was, on the basis on Leopold Mozart’s Versuch einer gründlichen Violinschule and W.A. Mozart’s Violin Concerto no. 4, to study technical and musical violin practice from the 18th century as well as to explore how the own modern interpretation of the work might change from the knowledge of this practice. To investigate this, Leopold Mozart’s violin school has been studied and the content have been compared with the own contemporary interpretation of the violin concerto. Besides these studies, a musical analysis of the piece has been made. In the summary the technical directions from the violin school are demonstrated and compared with the own interpretation. The results of the study indicate that how the own version of the violin concerto isn’t radically changed except for specific details; however, the studies of L. Mozart’s violin school has given an extra dimension to the understanding of the piece.
