Description [en]

The dance performance Solitude was commissioned for choreographer Anna Öberg by Dancenet Sweden for touring in 2019. An additional tour planned for 2021 was postponed until 2022 due to the corona pndemic.  Solitude is a dance performance created from an idea by Anna Öberg in cooperation with five dancers (Anna Öberg, Bert Persson, Lotta Johansson, Viktor Fröjd and Anita Langødegård), two live musicians (Olof Misgeld and Petter Berndalen) sound design (Elize Arvefjord), light design (Anton Andersson), sound technician (Sigge Krantz) and with audience participation as a key element. It is described as “an orgy in pulse created out of love of social dance. Social dance is a highly interactive setting where different elements and actors contribute to a multi-sensory, immersive and participatory experience, where pulse and rhythm are central for the experience of togetherness and wholeness. Inspired by that phenomena Solitude aims to create a game plan for subjective experiences in a collective and immersive world of beat.” (Öberg 2019). In the performance, strategies for the interplay between musicians and dancers was explored - such as spaciousness and sparsity - leaving room, leading/following, transformation through repetition and kinesthetic transference. The performance thus built on key skills and approaches from folk music and dance, and is staged in a setting that draws on these strategies for participation and interaction.
