Detta examensarbete handlar om hur man som musiker kan använda sig av konstformen barockdans för att interpretera franska barockdanser från ett mer praktiskt orienterat håll. Under två workshops har jag arbetat tillsammans med en barockviolinist och barockdansare, spelat in och analyserat delar av videomaterialet i efterhand. Frågor om val av tempo uppstår direkt och de frågorna är inte enkelt att besvara. Allt beror på hur koreografin ser ut och andra parameter som bland annat sväng och frasering som man ska ta hänsyn till.

This thesis is about how baroque dance can help baroque musicians to interpret French baroque dance music on their instruments and the symbiosis between the two art forms. It describes dance choreographies and their impact on the musicians playing, groove, phrasing, and choice of tempo. All those ingredients are crucial for a successful interpretation. The research was done in two workshops with a baroque dancer, baroque violinist and myself.
