Uppsatsens syfte är att genom kvalitativa intervjuer med tre svenska musikterapeuter, belysa existentiella frågor i svensk musikterapi. Forskningsfrågor är: Hur ser tre svenska musikterapeuter på existentiella frågor? Hur arbetar de med existentiella frågor i musikterapi? I uppsatsens bakgrund presenteras några utvalda filosofiska perspektiv på existentiella frågor samt litteratur som rör ämnesområdet musik, existentiell hälsa och livskvalitet. Forskning som berör musik, musikterapi och musikpsykologi presenteras. I resultatkapitlet presenteras tre teman: Existentiella frågor – en del av livet, Existentiella frågor genomsyrar musikterapi, Musik möjliggör inre förändring. I avsnittet diskussion diskuteras först resultatet under följande rubriker: Samstämmig syn på existentiella frågor, Samstämmig syn på musikens funktion, Känsla av sammanhang – av vikt för existentiell hälsa samt musikterapi och existentiella frågor. Sedan diskuteras vald metod under två rubriker: Intervjuer och Hermeneutik. Avslutningsvis diskuteras arbetets betydelse och förslag ges på fortsatt forskning. 

The purpose of this thesis is to illuminate existential issues in Swedish music therapy through qualitative interviews with three Swedish music therapists. The research questions are: How do three Swedish music therapists perceive existential issues? How do they work with existential issues in music therapy? The background of the theses presents selected philosophical perspectives on existential issues as well as literature related to the areas of music, existential health, and quality of life. Research concerning music, music therapy, and music psychology is presented. In the results chapter, three result themes are presented: Existential issues - a part of life, Existential issues permeate music therapy, Music enables inner change. In the discussion section, the results are first discussed under the following headlines: Consistent view on existential issues, Consistent view on the function of music, Sense of coherence - important for existential health and music therapy and existential issues. Then the chosen method is discussed under two headings: Interviews and Hermeneutics. Finally, the significance of the work is discussed, and suggestions for further research are provided.
