Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

This is a qualitative survey of the pedagogical ideas that have been fundamental in "Farbror Fläskkorvs Musikverkstad", a group that conducted musical activities for children. The group was active in downtown Stockholm between the years 1985 and 2007, and during this time they made contact with thousands of children. The survey is based upon interviews and a group discussion with three of the key persons in the group.

The ideas that the interviewees describe and discuss can be linked to progressive pedagogy. The activities have been characterized by a situation based and process-oriented pedagogical approach, and with great respect for the child's perspective. One central aspect has been to strengthen the childrens' musical knowledge and abilities by creating joyfulness.

The results of this survey is presented in relation to chosen pedagogic litterature with progressive focus. Furthermore, a critical discussion is made, where progressive ideas are compared to those of traditional pedagogy.
