Abstract [en]
Percy Heath, a renowned American jazz bassist, is the focus of this study aiming to deepen understanding of jazz bass lines' interaction with soloists. Through transcription and analysis of Heath's bass lines and accompanying solos, the study seeks to uncover patterns and techniques applicable to musical practice and ensemble performance. The work, inspired by previous studies on drummer-soloist dynamics and Heath's specific bass-playing style, aims to offer insights for bassists and other musicians interested in jazz bass accompaniment. The study includes detailed transcriptions of performances, followed by analysis and the development of exercises based on the observed techniques. The author hopes to enhance their musical skills and contribute to the understanding of jazz bass performance through this study.
