Royal College of Music in Stockholm, Department of Music Education.
2004 (Swedish)Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 HE creditsStudent thesis
Abstract [sv]

musikterapi (AOM) Nordoff-Robbins-metoden och Guided Imagery and Music (GIM).

psykiatrin i Stockholms län idag.

Abstract [en]

The aim of this Thesis, Post Graduate Diploma in Music Therapy at Royal

University College of Music, Stockholm 2004, is to aid and enter deeply about where music

therapy can bee found in psychiatry in Stockholm 2004.

In the form of inquiry, information was gathered from a number of active therapists, who are

working with musictherapy in the psychiatric field. The result showed that there is a long

experience of music therapy concentrated to a few therapists. The methods of music therapy

which are representative among the eight music therapist are Analytically Oriented Music

Therapy (AOM), Nordoff-Robbins-method and Guided Imagery and Music (GIM). Both

receptive and expressive music therapy techniques are used, but with an accent on receptive

techniques. The therapists meet clients with different psychiatric conditions, but mainly

diagnoses as trauma, depression, PTSD. The survey shows that music therapy, as a method of

treatment, not very much is used as a resource within the psychiatric field in Stockholm county.
