Studien undersöker musikproduktionsalumner från Kungliga Musikhögskolan och deras uppfattningar om begreppet musikproduktion samt lärande inom detta område. Arbetet använder en flermetodsdesign som inkluderar en kvantitativ, semistrukturerad enkät med 49 respondenter och kvalitativa, semistrukturerade intervjuer med fyra deltagare. Studien bygger på en fenomenografisk ansats som teoretiskt ramverk, där variationer i uppfattningar analyseras för att förstå fenomenet. Resultaten identifierar två huvudsakliga uppfattningar av musikproduktion: musikproduktion som ett hantverk som skapar ljud och musikproduktion som ett verktyg som formar ljud. Gällande lärande i musikproduktion framträder två kategorier: lärande som konstnärligt och undersökande, rotat i självkännedom; och lärande som grundläggande och tekniskt, rotat mot yrkesförberedelse. Sammanfattningsvis betonar resultaten vikten av en balanserad utbildning som integrerar konstnärligt uttryck med teknisk kompetens för att förbereda studenter för ett framtida yrkesliv. 

The study investigates the perceptions of music production alumni from the Royal College of Music (KMH) regarding the concept of music production and learning within this field. The research uses a mixed-methods design that includes a quantitative, semi-structured survey with 49 respondents and qualitative, semi- structured interviews with four participants. The study is based on a phenomenographic approach as a theoretical framework, analyzing variations in perceptions to understand the phenomenon. The results identify two main perceptions of music production: music production as a craft that creates sound and music production as a tool that shapes sound. Regarding learning in music production, two categories emerge: learning as artistic and exploratory, rooted in self-awareness; and learning as fundamental and technical, rooted in professional preparation. In summary, the results emphasize the importance of a balanced education that integrates artistic expression with technical competence to prepare students for future professional careers.
