Abstract [en]
This thesis explores the intersection between Impressionism in visual arts and music, with a focus on how composers such as Claude Debussy and Maurice Ravel translated the movement’s aesthetic principles into musical composition.
Additionally, the research delves into the phenomenon of chromesthesia, a form of synesthesia where sounds involuntarily evoke the perception of colors, and its impact on artistic expression.
The study further examines the contemporary work of composer Gilles Silvestrini, particularly his Six Études for Solo Oboe Inspired by Impressionistic Paintings, which continue the tradition of integrating visual and auditory elements in music.
The findings provide valuable insights into how musicians can approach music interpretation with a greater awareness of color, atmosphere, and emotion, enriching their expressive capabilities.
