Syftet med denna kandidatexamensuppsats var att jämföra Edwin H. Lemares orgeltranskription av Valkyrieritten med originalet av Richard Wagner. Transkriptionen har instuderats och speltekniska svårigheter har identifierats och analyserats. Slutligen har Valkyrieritten registrerats, gestaltats och framförts på orgeln i Hedvig Eleonora kyrka i Stockholm. Transkriptionen har spelats från ett nothäfte av Wayne Leupold Editions och vid jämförelse med originalet användes partituret av Valkyrian utgivet av förlaget Dover Publications. Valkyrieritten inleder tredje akten i operan Valkyrian av Richard Wagner. Det är ett verk för orkester och sångsolister som bygger på tre ledmotiv; valkyriemotivet, rittmotivet och valkyrieropet. Lemares orgeltranskription är virtuos och kräver att organisten kan spela tre mycket rörliga stämmor samtidigt. För att få fram ledmotivens karaktärer krävs olika anslag i händer och fötter. Orgeln behöver ha ett osedvanligt stort manualomfång och en lätt traktur. Lemare har reducerat originalet och komponerat så att orgeln kommer till sin rätt. Utifrån studiens resultat kan följande slutsats dras; eftersom transkriberaren bör ta sig friheter att skriva klokt för orgel, kan även organisten som spelar transkriptionen revidera ytterligare om så önskas. 

The purpose of this bachelor's thesis was to compare Edwin H. Lemare's organ transcription of the Ride of the Valkyries with the original score by Richard Wagner. The transcription has been studied and difficulties regarding the organist’s technique analyzed. Ride of the Valkyries was then interpreted and performed on the organ in Hedvig Eleonora Church in Stockholm. The transcription was played from an edition by Wayne Leupold Editions, and for comparison with the original, the score of Die Walküre published by Dover Publications was used. Ride of the Valkyries opens the third act of the opera Die Walküre by Richard Wagner. It is a work for orchestra and soloists that is based on three leitmotifs: the Valkyrie motif, the Ride motif, and the Valkyrie cry. Lemares' organ transcription is virtuosic and requires the organist to be able to play three rapid voices simultaneously. To bring out the characters of the leitmotifs, different touches in the hands and feet are required. The organ needs to have an unusually large manual range and a light action. Lemare has created a reduction from the original score and composed it so that the organ shines. Based on this, the following conclusion from the findings of this research can be drawn; since the transcriber should take liberties to write wisely for the organ, the organist playing the transcription can also revise further if desired.
