Abstract [en]
Summary of all parts of the thesis.
This thesis explores my artistic process in combining two distinct musical genres: Irish folk music and jazz. A central focus has been the attempt to apply a Celtic playing style on the saxophone, as well as the integration of improvisation within the context of Irish folk traditions. The project culminated in a concert held on March 26th, 2025, in the concert hall Lilla Salen at The Royal College of Music in Stockholm, together with a group of carefully selected fellow musicians. In this text, I will discuss the various musical elements I blended, the methods I used, and reflect on the artistic outcomes of the concert.
