Musik möter mode: – ett tvärkonstnärligt arbete mellan mode och låttexter
Royal College of Music in Stockholm, Department of Jazz.
2025 (Swedish)Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor of Fine Arts), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis [Artistic work]
Abstract [en]

This bachelor thesis explores the process and possibilities of translating works from one art form to another, with a particular focus on how visual art, in the form of clothing design, can inspire the creation of new musical works, with song lyrics as a starting point. Through collaboration with a self-taught clothing designer, I have investigated how fashion can influence music, and whether methods commonly found in popular culture and fashion can be applied within a musical context that includes improvisation, with the pop-culture method being a Catwalk. I have developed a template that explains my chain of thought from an initial association to a finished song. In addition, the work includes a historical overview of the relationship between fashion, style and music, and examines how these art forms have historically interacted and strengthened each other's expressions and identities. To conclude the result, Elsa Sjögren the clothing designer and I organized a fashion show where models walked the catwalk wearing the four different garments to which I wrote four different lyrics and songs to.
